Aztec Secrets Slot Machine
The Aztecs were a nomadic tribe found around Mexico in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. The Aztec civilization is known for developing hieroglyphic writing and a complex calendar and building famed pyramids and temples. Eventually the Aztecs would be overthrown by the Spanish in the 16th century, but their spirit lives on to this day. This slot by 1x2 pays homage to the Aztec civilization and the secrets they may have contained.
When starting play you’re met by a slot framed in bamboo with an ornate stone banner at the top framing the titles. The slot doesn’t exactly feature reels, the symbols simply falling into place, set against the backdrop of a blue Aztec sky, with a pyramid silhouetted in the distance. This slot is certainly colourful and the symbols are well drawn, featuring Aztec warriors, animals and a female Aztec, many of the symbols framed in stone. The slot is accompanied by the sound of a quickly played xylophone, the tune building up, leading to an expectation of bigger and better things to come – the sound fitting nicely with the slot. This slot has two main features – one being the free spins round and the other being a bonus round where big wins can be achieved.
Set up and Play for Aztec Secrets
This slot has five reels with 25 win lines across the reels. This number is changeable, so should you want to play just one line, you’ll have that option, although the default setting will be the entire 25. You’ll also choose the coin value and the coin amount and the combination of the three will tell you the total stake for each spin. To achieve a win at this slot you’ll need to land the same symbol consecutively from left to right on a win line, five in a row paying the top prizes, but three of any symbol giving you a win.
The top paying symbol in the game is the Aztec mask, looking much like a native American with the feathered headdress – this symbol paying out 700x when landing 5 in a row. The lady set in stone is worth 650x and the male warrior pays 600x. The octopus and two headed snake, both more idyllic than lifelike, pay out 550x and 500x respectively. The symbols are completed by the playing card symbols from Jack to Ace, all set in stone.
The wild symbol in the game is a golden coin, complete with a grimacing golden face and several small colourful masks. This symbol will substitute for any other apart from the scatter and the bonus symbols. The wild only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4.
The slot has two different scatter symbols. The first is called ‘scatter’ and set against a frightening warrior in a golden mask. This doesn’t act quite like a normal scatter symbol, in that you’ll need to land it 3 times or more on a win line, as opposed to anywhere on the slot. Having landed it at least 3 times you’ll enter the free games round. The second scatter symbol is the bonus, set against an ornate sun complete with tongue sticking out – once again, land 3 or more on the win line to enter the bonus round.
Aztec Secrets Feature Rounds
The free spins round sees any of your win amounts doubled with the 2x multiplier in play. However, the best feature of the game is the bonus round. Here you’ll find five rows of stepping stones which you’ll navigate across in an attempt to win a large cash prize. At the end of the rows sits a large stone figure, much resembling Jabba the Hut, although my guess is that he wasn’t around in the Aztec times (firstly because that would make him very old and secondly because he isn’t actually real). Make it all the way to Jabba and you’ll have a nice cash windfall.
Aztec Secrets – Conclusion
This slot by 1x2 is something of a middle of the road one, not particularly setting the world alight, but by no means one of the worst I’ve played either. The look of the slot with the added background sound works well and if you add the two features to the mix, this slot will have some fans. No, there isn’t a huge Jackpot or amazing cinematic graphics, but for a fun half hour, this slot will fit the bill for many.
